Guest Artist at HUTT ART exhibition ‘Holiday Memories’

I am honoured to have been invited to be guest artist at Hutt Art which opens tomorrow night. They have chosen 13 of my most recent paintings, one of which is my favourite depicting the old steam tug Tapuhi on her brave rescue mission on Wahine day. The Odlin Gallery is a modern gallery, sympathetically designed between and joining two historic Lower Hutt Villas, Hutt Art is located on the corner right next to Huia Pool.

Odlin Gallery 9 – 11 Myttle Street
Season 18th – 28th October
Open 10am – 4pm daily.

You are welcome to attend the opening function – Wed 17th Oct at 6pm. No invite is needed - will be great to see you there (sorry for the short notice though).

NZIQUE in Petone

When passing through Jackson Street in Petone, its well worth dropping in to visit NZIQUE (Park & Save end of J street). Check out the talented new artists that have joined this friendly store recently. This is a great place with art that will suite all tastes - a perfect place to get in some early Christmas shopping.

....but why is nothing happening with your new gallery?

This is the hottest question that I've been asked over the last few months - and for the answer, see the photo below. Yes, I have abandoned the original drawings and restarted from scratch. After the engineering earthquake strengthening drawings were completed mid year, it became apparent that it would make more sense to demolish and build new. The new concept designed by Homstead Concrete Homes of Levin has just been approved by Hutt City Council and includes Gallery/framing workshop & ice-cream parlour on the ground floor. Above this will be the apartment with an exciting loft art studio space overlooking the sea. Although your chances of getting an ice-cream there this summer are slim, sorry, but with luck you might still be able to walk through the new gallery with a take out coffee in Autumn or Winter.

Look out for new plans and progress photos that will soon be loaded onto my website + some shots of the old building coming down photos.

The Kiwi Art House Gallery

The top end of Cuba street is fast developing into a cute niche area. At KIWI ART HOUSE, you can catch Jane Hyders exhibition, The Garden Part, on from 19th Oct to 1st November. Across the road is the THISTLE HALL, a great gallery featuring many new emerging artists. And while you are there check out a very special café on the opposite corner ‘Marthas Pantry’.

Underground Market

Each Saturday underneat the Frank Kits Park is a vibrant market, check out the monthly themed markets Wellington Underground Market or join their mailing list. On the second Sunday of each month, they also run a market at the Dowse carpark in the Hutt, 11 – 3pm.

This fabulous large collaborative artwork, completed by the artists of the Art group, 'Colourfest' will be raffled during the Hutt Art exhibition. Tickets are $5 each and proceeds will be donated to the Omanga Hospice.

(I was blown away at the standard of this groups artwork when I went to help set up today and at very affordable prices too. My high school art teacher, Peggy Ellis is also exhibiting)

Red Roof Gallery at Eastbourne Village

If you are on a Sunday Drive out Eastbourne way be sure to visit the cute Red Roof Gallery to meet the friendly Alex and catch her latest exhibition, new works by local artists including Jacky Pearson feature regularly.
